Valentine's Day Recap

Happy belated Valentine's Day, my friends!! I hope you all have a FAB Valentine's Day and got some goodies out of it too. I spent my Valentine's Day with my mom and grandma, my mom treated my grandma and I to the Moscow ballet's performance of Sleeping Beauty at the San Diego Symphony. The ballet was beautiful and captivating, us gal’s had a great time… Plus, my mom gifted us each a bouquet of roses [don’t I have the best mom EVER?!?]. Later that night I came home to my husband who had a gift waiting for me… I was so surprised when I opened it to find he had hired my FAV photographer and best friend to take pictures of our kids; Jake and Lila. I was blown away – I even cried!!

A few months ago I had a master plan for Valentine’s Day… I had all my gifts and card making planned out. However, as the day drew closer, I became incredibly busy and need-less-to-say, I wasn’t able to put my plan into action. I was pretty sad; however, I had a 2hr window day of Valentine’s Day so I decided to take advantage and make a little something for my husband, mom, and grandma.

On my last trip to Cool Scrapbook Stuff, I picked up a few SRM tubes. I quickly made a pinwheel, and a couple tags and glued them to the front of my tubes, filled the tubes with Hershey’s Kisses and added some ribbon – and voila!!

I haven't written a post in how long?!?

Geez lousie... I can't believe it's been alomst a YEAR since my last blog post [gasp]!! I have no excuse, but rest asured I am back and y'all can expect to see many, many posts from the Paper Princess this year. With that said, I had a opportunity to work with an old friend of mine on her daugter's baby shower. The baby shower took place yesterday afternoon and it was  spectacular and need not fall short of FABULOUS!! The Paper Princess made invitations, tutu centerpieces, water bottle labels, notecards, a banner, name tags, favor boxes, and tags... phew!! However, the party would not have been complete without our favorite photography, Jessica from High Note Photography. I could go on-and-on about all the details from the shower; however, I need to get ready for a dinner date with one of my besties. I promise to share more photos from the shower (soon), in the mean time, I'll leave you with a little teaser. 

Catching Up

Hello friends!!

I have lots to share today; a custom card, NEW headband, and a restaurant.

Last week was my father-in-law's birthday (Happy birthday, Jimmy!!) and I thought I would share with you all, the card that I made for him.

Moving on to other news, I've revealed and announced the newest headband on Facebook, but I have yet to announce it on the blog...

The Mali headband is wild, fun, and very chic, name after my mother who has all these amazing qualities and then some. The Mali headband is made from to best silk and satin fabrics available to me, and (of course) hand stitched by me. The Mail headband is available at an introductory price of $10.00... Get it while you can, price will go up in the near future.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I tried a new restaurant he had been raving about. Below you can find a synopsis and my overall rating.

Five Guys is a hamburger joint that has delicious buns and quality patties. On our visit to Five Guys I ordered a cheeseburger and "original" fries. Their burger was delicious; however, I wasn’t very impressed with their fries. The overall atmosphere was fun, definitely family friendly and clean. However, a bit loud for my taste... I would NOT recommend this place for a date night. The decor of the restaurant was unique; there were bags of potatoes that strategically sectioned off parts of the restaurant, which I thought was cool. My favorite part was the peanuts that are free to customers. I gave Five Guys a rating of 3 out of 5 stars reason being, I didn’t think this restaurant was any different from In-and-Out or Smash Burger, for that matter. Nevertheless, Five Guys was good enough and I have no doubt we’ll be visiting again in the near future.

Happy Birthday, Abigail!!

Today is my niece’s 3rd birthday!!

I am thrilled, excited, and somewhat sad... I feel as if it were just yesterday when she was born. My-oh-my!! How 3 years seem so long, yet creep up so quickly. 

I thought I would pop in a share with you all the card and birthday gift I made for Abby... Abby had mentioned in one of our conversations that the next tutu I made her, she wanted to be pink. I saved that idea in the back of my mind and figured I would coordinate a cute outfit for her birthday. And of course, I HAD to add a matching 'Abby headband'... After all, she's the inspiration behind the headband.

Update + A Custom Card

Hello friends!!

Last week I mentioned there would be a BIG giveaway this weekend. However, it's going to be postponed... The giveaway that was initally going to start today, will commence next Saturday, April 9th.  

It's been a while since I last showcased a card, and today I have a custom card to show. I was commisioned to make this card for a four year old boy. Both my client and I were very happy with the outcome... I hope you all will enjoy it as well.

On another note... my mom and I were having a conversation about her Kindle and it was during this conversation I noticed, I hadnt read a book (other than textbooks) since the Twilight saga... sad, I know. With that said, I promised myself I would read a minimum of 3 books this summer.  As summer quickly approches, I've already got 2 books ready for reading:

First up...

I came across How To Sew A Button at my local craft shop. As I flipped through it's pages, I quickly became consumed by all the wonderful things this darling book is going to teach me. After I finish reading this book, I'll be sure to include a summary and let you all know whether this book is worth reading. 

Next on the list....

I came across this book while watching the Today show. Gesine Bullock-Prado was a guest on the Today show where she made beautiful desserts!! Granted, this is a cookbook and requires little reading. However, I hope to make some of the recipes in this book (if not all) and will be sure to post pictures ;)

NEW CAMERA and other great news!!

GREAT NEWS..... I got a NEW camera!!

I am so happy I no longer have to use my iPhone to take pictures of my work. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn’t be caught dead without my iPhone. However, when it comes to taking pictures of detailed work, the iPhone 4 is not the best. Nevertheless, I am grateful that my phone was able to step-it-up while I researched and picked the perfect camera. 

I am now the VERY proud owner of the Sony a-330. I couldn’t be happier with my new "toy" and I have been taking pictures like a mad woman ;) I tested out TONS of cameras, I decided on the Sony a-330 for many reasons; high megapixels, very light-weight, DSLR, and a high ISO, amazing quality, and user friendly. I could keep going and going... in a nut shell, the a-330 is amazing and I couldn’t be happier!!

In other GREAT news… Today I will be teaching my first class at Paper Tales in Point Loma and it sold out!! Yesterday, I spent the day preparing for my class when I started to get a bit nervous… I’ve taught friends and family before, but I’ve never actually given a class before. Luckily, the Paper Tales team is amazing and I know they’ll help me out if I get stumped. Nonetheless, I am SO excited and giddy to teach today’s class. I plan to take lots of pictures with my new camera. I’ll be sure to post them up this week and give a quick recap on the class.

Moving on to other great news… The Abby headband seems to be a big hit. I’ve received many requests for them and I’ve even worked on new styles. Be sure to check out the Paper Princess FB (albums) to see my latest work. Additionally, what’s been a HUGE hit are the personalized shirts I introduced earlier this month. I’ve also created TONS of graphics for these shirts, to see them; you’ll need to visit the Paper Princess FB page. There, I’ve created an album titled; Personalized Shirts.

Lastly, I am in the process of adding ecommerce to my blog along with a photo gallery and a few other things. New Product :: Personalized Shirts

I hadnt realized how much time had passed since my last post!! I'd love to say I've been away on vacation, but I've actually been developing and perfecting NEW products, of which I will reveal today. In early February I revealed the Abby headband, and I am please to announce that I have expanded on the Abby headband line to include the following:

The Abby Couture headband

Made 100% by hand, roses are made from purple duponi silk and hand stitched by me. This headband is adorned with delicate pink lace, purple marabou feathers, pink French netting, purple swarovski crystals, and placed atop a pink elastic lace headband. Made 100% by hand, roses are made from antique gold colored duponi silk and hand stitched by me. This headband is adorned with delicate peek-a-boo peach lace, tan marabou feathers, and placed atop a black elastic lace headband. Can be made to fit all ages and is completely customizable, $15.00

 

The Abby Haute Couture headband

Made 100% by hand, roses are made from grapefruit colored duponi silk and hand stitched by me. This headband is adorned with delicate peach lace and hot pink marabou feathers and is set atop hand pleated bubblegum colored base. Although shown off the headband, the Abby Haute Couture headband can be set on any color elastic lace. Can be made to fit all ages and is completely customizable, $17.00

I've been getting a lot of requests for boy items and since I have a nephew who will soon be old enough to notice that I send his sister WAY more than I send him, I figured I needed to get my brain working and figure something out. After much brain storming and creating, the idea of personalized shirts was born!!

  

Personalized shirts are great gifts for kids and expectant mothers. Not only are these SUPER cute, unique, and personalized, but they're also 100% washable!! In additon, since graphics are made by me, the possibilites are truly endless...
